I Broke Into the Top 60 Richest Super Tycoons Players on Facebook!

joshua-kennon-broke-into-top-60-net-worth-tycoons

Well, six months after starting my Super Tycoons game on Facebook, I broke into the Top 60 Richest Players! Now, the only problem is that because of the game design flaws, which I've discussed in the past, it is mathematically impossible for me to get into the Top 10 players.  See, there is a special business known as a "Beach Resort" that generates population that generates tax revenue.  The top few players spent $200+ in the real world to buy 250 beach resorts and then got such a huge … [Read more...]

My Super Tycoons Game Hit $135 Billion in Net Worth

Insane Price Inflation in Super Tycoons Facebook Game

My Super Tycoons game account on Facebook has reached a net worth of $135 billion with $88 billion of this in cash.  I am almost in the Top 60 richest players in the game.  I started playing Tycoons the first few days of May 2010 (you can read about it here), long after most other players had begun so I had a huge disadvantage. I liked the game so much I decided to donate a few hundred dollars to the developers by making in-game app purchases because I think it would be a great teaching … [Read more...]

The Square-Enix Store in Japan

square-enix-store-5

Pardon me while I get my Japanese RPG geek on for a moment ... the Square-Enix store in Japan has a showcase of their masterpiece line of rare collectibles, such as $400+ replica 1/4" scale models of Sephiroth from Final Fantasy VII and Kingdom Hearts characters. With cool stuff like this - who cares about investing!? I want them now! Why don't they have a flagship store in New York? … [Read more...]

My Super Tycoons Facebook Game Net Worth Just Hit $60 Billion

Super Tycoons Facebook Game Update

The last time I updated you on my Super Tycoons Facebook game exploits, I was rejoicing at increasing my in-game net worth from $100 million to $14 billion between May and August.  This was after I rolled out my flour empire expansion. Ultimately, I decided instead of going for the commodity leader board, I would sell the flour to enter the auto manufacturing industry.  To date, I've harvested 18,176,980 pounds of flour but I only have 4,577,747 pounds on hand.  The figure would be much … [Read more...]

I Finally Beat Tales of Vesperia

Tales of Vesperia Yuri and Estelle

A few weeks ago, I beat Tales of Vesperia but got busy so I didn't get it up here on the site.  It is one of my favorite games since Final Fantasy VII and Chrono Trigger. That says something, given that it's been almost 15 years since those two titles were released.  I didn't realize that the Tales of Vesperia game had smashed the release date unit sales record in Japan so, yeah, over here in the United States I was a bit behind the times in grasping how huge of a deal this game was. I … [Read more...]

The Reason the Video Game Industry Is Bigger Than Hollywood

Tales of Vesperia

Tales of Vesperia continues to rock my world.  I played for several hours again today after reading wealth reports and working on the upcoming About.com content I've been writing this week (I tend to publish the good stuff over there in big batches because I like for it all to work together and be cohesive).  The rest of my week is going to be consumed by preparing for a Board of Directors meeting with my sporting good company, which will probably be held in Kansas City or Houston, I haven't … [Read more...]

Super Tycoons Facebook Update: From $100 Million to $14 Billion

Super Tycoons on Facebook Update

On May 9th, I gave an update on the Super Tycoons game I've been playing every day on Facebook in which you have to build an empire and compete against other players. I've even convinced my grandma to start playing it as a steel tycoon. When I wrote about the game back in May, my in-game businesses generated $11 million per day and my game net worth stood at below $100 million.  As of a few seconds ago, I've gotten my in-game profits to just under $500 million per day and my game net worth … [Read more...]

Building a Flour Empire on Super Tycoons

I have been playing Super Tycoons so much on Facebook and my iPad that I upped my donation to the developers from $150 to $250. I decided that my next focus is on launching a series of grain mills to build a fortune in the flour industry. Once I've paid for the upgrades, which will cost at least several hundred million dollars in the game, I will have a total of 15 operational mills producing 151,200 pounds of flour per day. At $115 per pound, this would add $17.39 million to my in-game … [Read more...]

Why Don’t People Realize You Can Do This In Real Life?

Tycoon Chemical Company

During college, one of Aaron and my closest friends made a comment that still haunts me to this day.  I was explaining that if you own a share of The Coca-Cola Company, you actually receive a proportionate cut of the company's profits on every single can of Coke sold.  This makes sense, after all ... if a business is divided into 100 shares outstanding, and you own 1 share, you own 1% of the company.  If you own all 100 shares, you would own the entire business and get all of the profit, … [Read more...]
