A trip to the bookstore makes almost any day better.
We are having an amazingly productive day. Thus far, we have:
- Paid a ton of bills for one of the businesses.
- Submitted the final tax documents to the accounting firm that handles our business and personal filings.
- Had lunch / dinner at Panera Bread with Aaron.
- Went to Michael’s and got a bunch of our Carl Barks rare lithographs framed for 50% off!
- Went on a book run to Borders to pick up a bunch of business, psychology, and biography books.
- Spent a few hours talking politics with my grandma, mom, and dad, as Aaron and Ellie watched Sponge Bob Square Pants.
- Finished some important business at the bank.
- Handled the remaining work on the TSP to Rollover IRA for my brother’s accounts now that he is leaving the United States Air Force.
- Aaron is working on beating Final Fantasy XIII as we speak.
There were a few books I wanted that Borders didn’t have and / or wasn’t even close on the price point so I’m going to get them on Amazon. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go grab a fresh cup of coffee and get started on a second wave of work. It’s only 10:31 p.m. The night is young!
P.S.: You can tell why I’m successful and love finance. As we were approving the frames / matting on the Carl Barks artwork, the sales associate commented, “You know, these could double in value in 10 years.” My response: “Yes, that would be a 7.2% compounded annual rate of return, which is alright; not as good as stocks, but still decent.” I think my sub-conscience is starting to make time-value-of-money calculations reflexively after decades of practice.
