We Might Setup a Recording Studio In the Office

Apple Logic Studio

It is taking extraordinary restraint to avoid clearing my schedule for a month and doing this.

Aaron and I have been talking about setting up a recording studio in the office for some time. We have top-of-the-line Power Mac systems with dual 30″ HD monitors, Apple Logic Studio or Pro (whichever was the best one), Soundtrack, huge, fully-weighted 88 key brand name synthesizers, professional quality microphones, and a lot of other stuff we picked up from our time paying our way through university with music scholarships. The thing is, I have absolutely no idea how the logistics work for structuring the hardware. (more…)

Chopin Opus 10, Number 1 Done Right by Mei-Ting Sun

This has to be the best interpretation of Chopin’s Opus 10 No. 1 on the planet.  The artist is Mei-Ting Sun.  It is unbelievably fluid and fairly flawless (I swear I hear a missed note on the first descent but it’s nearly 4 in the morning when I’m writing this).  Personally, I think Mr. Sun kicks the crap out of Ashkenazy.  They aren’t even in the same ballpark because Mei-Ting Sun creates music, whereas Ashkenazy hits notes.  The phrasing about 23 seconds into the piece is just stunning.  Throughout the entire performance, the phrasing turns what many reduce to a mere display of technical prowess into actual beauty.  Overall, just extraordinarily well done.
