Last week, the Census Bureau reported that an estimated 1 out of 7 Americans is now living in poverty, which is the same level we had in 1994. I started digging around the figures and found that the government definition of poverty for a two-adult, two child household (4 people) is $22,050 in annual income. My Mom at the Billy Joel and Elton John Concert

My mom wasn't allowed to go see Elton John as a kid. She came from a very fundamentalist household and seeing a "homosexual" wasn't something God's people did, or so they were told. So, she would wait up at night and watch him on television instead of going to bed.
