I’ve been looking for another fragrance house to augment the Creed and Bond families. After a few references, I decided to have a sampler box of Amouage fragrances for men and women shipped from London so I can decide if I like them or not. They are the royally appointed Omani perfume house.
I have absolutely no idea what to expect – none at all. Given the fact that the house was named for the birth place of the Sultanate of Oman, I’m going to guess the Arabian influence is heavy judging by the frankincense listed on the ingredient lists.
If I like the fragrances themselves, I can buy individual scents at a cost of approximately €225 per 100 ml bottle, which is roughly $290.66 at today’s currency translation rates (the good thing is that my American Express card does the currency exchange for a small fee so I don’t have to worry about coming up with foreign currency – it will appear on my statement as regular dollars with a note about the exchange rate they gave me at the time of purchase). The bad news is, I have no idea how long it will take for the samples to arrive … it could be a few days or a few weeks.
Anyway, I figured with the money we have made from Europe and the Middle East, I may as well buy some products from them. I like this whole global marketplace thing.
The flagship Amouage store looks really cool … take a look by clicking on the pictures.
