There Is a Big Deal in the Works

There is a big investment deal in the works for one of our businesses.I apologize for my recent absence. Roughly two weeks ago, an opportunity presented itself that could generate at minimum several million dollars in additional annual revenue for one of our companies, while still allowing us to earn very high pre-tax operating margins on little capital investment.  Needless to say, anytime something crosses my desk with a potential seven-figure (or higher) payoff attached to it, my attention is piqued.  In this case, the details were sufficient for me to shut down my own life and get involved to make sure everything went well.

I cleared my schedule, including putting the book aside (for a short time, I hope).  I slowed my content production for investing articles, stopped updating this blog, and put the investment portfolio on auto-pilot.  Aaron and I have been going through the details and putting together the proposal until roughly 4 a.m. for days on end. This has a chance to cause a fundamental transformation in the way our business is structured, although we won’t know the full and complete payoff for 36 to 60 months as the fruits of the strategic partnership begin coming in for harvest.

I’m wrapping up my part of the work, meaning that I’ll be back to full-speed here soon.  Thereafter, it will require only a few hours a week from me, if I manage my responsibilities correctly.  Once everything is in the clear, I’ll explain what we did and why we did it.  That means a few years from now, God willing, expect a post saying, “Remember when …”  I promise it will be worth it.

Looking forward to reading about the deal. I left a message on an old post a few weeks back and am now considering starting/buying a vending route (soda/snack). I’m afraid I won’t be able to wait for your book on how to value businesses I’m looking to buy. Is there any way you could provide another resource I could use before your book comes out?

    Thanks,
