Twenty Years Ago, in 1990 …

I was in first grade, having lunch at the El Dorado Springs Christian School.  Representing it old style, folks.  This was a point in my life when I didn’t own a single share of stock.  It was about this time my Scrooge McDuck obsession started with the comic books, DuckTales, and the NES video game.

Do you know why my first grade lunches were memorable?  Because every single day my mom hid a note in my lunchbox, written on an index card, telling me that she loved me, why I was special, and that she hoped I enjoyed what she had made.  That is one of the reasons I know how blessed I am … I had no control over the fact I was born into circumstances like that where I was able to grow into what I wanted and pursue my dreams.

Thanks mom =)  I love you and you are special.  If there were a way I could send you a cherry Squeez-It over the Internet (my drink of choice back in those days), I would.  You can even see it in the picture.  Man I loved those …

I'm in the middle with my hand against my head ... Sorry about the glare on the photo; I took a snapshot on my iPhone out of an old yearbook I found in my office. That lady was one of the two Mrs. Davis' who were my teachers in first grade.
