Charvet Store at Bergdorf Goodman New York

Kennon-Green & Co. Fiduciary Financial Advisor, Wealth Management, Global Value Investing

We have arrived in New York, settled into the hotel, and are trying to get some store browsing in before business closes today since it is late on a Sunday afternoon.

Executive Lounge

After the plane landed, we headed into one of the restricted executive lounges to regroup, use the restroom, grabbed some snacks, and rested for a minute before going to meet our driver, who was waiting to take us to our hotel.

Car Driver New York

The driver picked us up and took us into the city, dropping us off at our hotel.

We checked into The Palace Hotel.  I know we said we were going to be staying at the Waldorf Towers but my mom got hooked on Gossip Girl so changed the plans because I thought it would be enjoyable to stay at the very hotel that plays such a central role in the television show.  The view is great from our room …

View of Rockefeller Center

The view of Rockefeller Center from our room was excellent.

New York Palace Hotel Courtyard

The courtyard of the New York Palace Hotel is beautiful in real life.

We immediately headed out after unloading our stuff in the hotel.  On our way, we passed the Kiton boutique!

Kiton Boutique Building

The Kiton boutique building cost the company tens of millions of dollars. It was very well done but it was closed so I'll have to come back sometime this month.

Apple Store New York City

We stopped by the Apple Store on Fifth Avenue.

Then, even though I knew we wouldn’t have time to really shop given that we had been traveling all day after having flown into New York earlier, we popped into Bergdorf Goodman’s men’s store on Fifth Avenue just to see what was new.

Charvet Store at Bergdorf Goodman New York

I loved - absolutely LOVED - the Charvet ties that were out this season. I am going to go back and probably buy at least a few.

Bergdorf Goodman Dress Shirts

We browsed through the dress shirts really quickly, which is somewhat pointless tend we tend to prefer custom made shirts.

Amouage at Bergdorf Goodman

Bergdorf Goodman carried Amouage! I was glad to see it, even though I only like two of their scents (the rest are too ... non-French for me). Aaron adores Jubilation XXV. You remember when we had the samples shipped to us from London? Totally, totally worth it. We'll be picking up a bottle before we leave.

Bergdorf Goodman Stairs

We made our way up to the top of the store then decided to head down the stairs and look around elsewhere before it got too late. It was mother's day (a Sunday) and late so we didn't expect things to be open for much longer.

Picking up Cupcakes from Crumbs Bakery on Madison Avenue

Crumbs Bakery Madison Avenue

We stopped in Crumbs Bakery on Madison Avenue to order cupcakes. You know my mom is on a quest to find the perfect cupcake.

Crumbs Bakery Cakes

The cakes in the Crumbs Bakery display cabinet on Madison Avenue ...

Crumbs Bakery Cupcakes

Aaron ordered a Key Lime Pie cupcake, Mom ordered a Cappuccino cupcake, and I ordered a cookie dough cupcake filled with chocolate frosting.

Cookie Dough Cupcake from Crumbs Bakery

My cookie dough cupcake was pretty good, including the chocolate frosting on the inside. I don't know if I'd ever order from the bakery again, though, because I'm not sure it was worth the calories.

Chocolate Frosting Filled Cupcake

The chocolate frosting inside the cupcake was good but other than that ... meh.

Now, we are going to go back to the hotel to figure out our plans. There is a lot to accomplish in the coming weeks.
