Two barred owls have moved into the trees behind the house and have been hanging out for a few weeks. They tend to fly together and one likes to stare into the windows, watching us inquisitively. I almost managed to capture footage of both of them hanging out together but by the time I had the camera, one had flown across the stream and the other remained for less than a minute. We think they are Barred Owls because the hoot is exactly the same like the one you hear in the movies.
I don’t want them to leave. I’ve grown accustomed to their hooting toward sundown and sometimes at night. If you’ve never heard the sound, I found this other video on YouTube that someone posted with much better footage and audio.
We also had a barn owl move in that is very pretty but has an unpleasant hoot, more of a screech.
Just in case you haven’t had enough owls, here is a baby screech owl having a bath then being dried. If you don’t find it adorable, you might want to check and see if you lost your soul somewhere.

Wildlife in and around your home is wonderful. We moved from a fairly suburban area (outskirts of Boise, ID and northern Puget Sound before that) to our very rural 60 acre farm this spring. We've counted over 40 deer in our pasture at one time, and we've seen two separate rafters of Turkeys numbering over 25 each, on the property at the same time as well. Not to mention the occasional black bear, elk, coyote, weasel, and so on in the area. We wouldn't trade it for anything.
You've talked about the "utility factor" of owning your own home. I agree with that 100%, and having wildlife sharing your place with you only adds to that feeling. I hope those Barred Owls stay around your place for awhile longer. Enjoy them while they're there. =)

I just bought a gorgeous Fiat Panda after I been earnin $6756 this-past/five weeks and-just over, 10k last munth . this is actually the easiest-job I have ever had .
